Steven Reid has left his role as a coach at Premier League club Nottingham Forest, bringing an end to his second stint at the club.

Reid's first stint at Forest began in 2021 after he joined Chris Hughton's coaching staff at the City Ground and he took charge of one game as interim manager after Hughton was sacked. He left the club the following year, but returned in 2023.

However, Reid has now left the club for a second time, confirming his departure in a post on Instagram. "So my time at Nottingham Forest has come to an end. I would like to wish everybody at the club every success for the future," Reid wrote.

"Some amazing memories shared over 3 seasons that will live with me forever." Forest also wrote: "We can confirm that Steven Reid has left the Club. Wishing you all the best for the next chapter, and thank you for everything, Steven."

During his time at Forest, Reid was notably given a two-game touchline ban and a £5,000 fine for calling referee Paul Tierney a "c***" three times after his side's controversial late 1-0 defeat to Liverpool last season.

Forest were furious that Darwin Nunez's stoppage time goal was allowed to stand after Tierney mistakenly gave Liverpool an uncontested drop ball following a stoppage for a head injury, with the official outlining the confrontation with Reid in his incident report.

"Following the final whistle I was surrounded by members of Nottingham Forest's substitutes and backroom staff on the field of play," Tierney said. "One of those who approached me was Steven Reid, who was not listed on the teamsheet.

"He asked me about a decision and I said to him that I will speak to him inside and not outside on the field of play. He then continued to question me and I repeated that I would speak to him inside. He then said, 'it's the same every week, you c***t.'

"I showed him the red card and then he said 'I worked with you f***ing lot every f***ing week last season. It's the same every f***ng week you c***'. He then continued to use the word f*** and called me a c*** on at least one more occasion (making that a minimum of 3 in total) as we were making our way off the field of play."
