Take That project sparks major chaos as Jason Orange fails to respond

Send Push

Following the success of many other music-led documentaries, Take That are now hoping to jump on board the gravy train, and star in their own documentary for Netflix.

But it seems that although Mark Owen, Howard Donald and Gary Barlow are keen to start the project, one person has potentially halted proceedings. Jason Orange, 54, who quit the band in 2014 and led a life away from the spotlight, is yet to confirm whether he will appear in the documentary produced by Fulwell 73.

The production company has seen success with documentaries on Adele, Harry Styles and Ed Sheeran. The film was announced at the Edinburgh TV Festival last month and it shows the journey of all the band members from their days as aspiring pop stars to global fame.

A TV source told The Sun: "The documentary was initially going to feature archive interviews from Jason. But there’s hope he could be persuaded to take part in the present day, which would be a real coup. The special is still in its early stages, and Fulwell 73 has yet to formally approach him, but this could change when the project starts to take shape and the lads have managed to work their magic."

Over the years, Jason has been rarely spotted but last week he was seen enjoying time out at The Ivy restaurant in London. And it looks as though he has decided to make himself difficult to locate, even though he occasionally contacts the lads sparingly.

Speaking to the publication last year, Howard admitted: "I don’t know where he is. He’s difficult to get hold of, and I believe that’s the way he wants it. When an album is coming out, he’ll send an email saying, ‘I wish you all the success in the world'."

He continued: "And then the next day you try replying to it and it’s a no-reply email address." It is believed that Robbie Williams, who also had a hugely successful documentary on Netflix, may appear on the documentary.

Speaking of his time in the band, Jason said last year: "I want to start by saying how proud I am of what we have achieved together over the years. However, at a band meeting last week I confirmed to Mark, Gary, and Howard, that I do not wish to commit to recording and promoting a new album. I have spent some of the best years of my life with Take That and I’d like to thank everyone who has been a part of my journey, including my band mates, who I feel are like brothers to me."

He added: "Most especially my gratitude goes to all of the good and kind, beautiful and ever-loyal fans of the band, without whom none of this could have been possible. Thank you. At the end of the Progress tour I began to question whether it might be the right time for me to not continue on with Take That. "

Jason continued: "At the start of this year and with my full knowledge and blessing the guys began writing new material. There have been no fallings out, only a decision on my part that I no longer wish to do this. I know how much Mark, Gary and Howard enjoy writing and making music, and they know that they have my full support and encouragement to continue on with what is to be another chapter for the band."
