A Place In The Sun's Ben Hillman was gobsmacked in a recent episode when a couple flat-out refused to finish viewing a property.
On Wednesday's episode (July 3), Ben was tasked with helping Emma and Shane, a British couple seeking a sleek, modern abode in Madeira, hoping for a swift move. However, the episode took an unexpected turn when Emma and Shane quickly dismissed one of the properties.
The house, complete with its own private pool, initially seemed ideal for the pair. But as soon as they entered, Emma didn't hold back her thoughts on the interior design. She bluntly stated: "I don't like it. It's beautiful but I couldn't live here."
The home boasted natural stone tiles and a spacious living area on the ground floor. Yet, after a brief look around, Emma decided she'd seen enough and, with Shane in tow, exited the property, reports the Express.
Ben was visibly taken aback by their abrupt departure. Addressing the audience, he expressed his disbelief: "I literally can't believe what just happened."
Viewers were equally baffled by Emma's candid dismissal, taking to social media to express their bewilderment. One bemused fan tweeted: "It looks beautiful, but I couldn't live with it," accompanied by a gif emblazoned with the word "huh".
Despite their apprehensions about one of Ben's property suggestions, Emma and Shane did settle on a pleasing house which suited their preferences. They made a proposal of £195,000 for what they believed could be their dream home, with the expectation that the proprietor might take accept their price.
However, their dreams were dashed despite Ben putting in a poised phone-call; their bid was rejected. Fans took to social media to express their feelings on Emma and Shane's unsuccessful bid.
One disappointed viewer expressed: "What a mediocre ending to a mediocre episode. Until next time, Folks." Meanwhile, another underwhelmed fan echoed similar sentiments, commenting: "That was uninspiring. Even by Madeira and Ben's standards."
