Aaron Rodgers makes vow to New York Jets fans and 'special' prediction

Aaron Rodgers has voiced his belief in the budding chemistry with Garrett Wilson, predicting a "special" connection brewing and extending a heartfelt vow to the "tortured" New York Jets faithful.

Finally witnessing the superstar quarterback in full flight at MetLife Stadium, Jets enthusiasts revelled as 375 days post his Achilles rupture during his debut last season, Rodgers orchestrated a commanding 24-3 triumph over the New England Patriots, marking his inaugural home victory donning Jets colours.

Rodgers, showcasing the dazzling form that defines his career, sliced through the opposition from the AFC East, finishing with an impressive stat line of 27 completions on 35 attempts, yielding 281 yards and capped by two touchdowns. The clinching score was perfectly delivered into the hands of Wilson, who had a subdued game until he skilfully snagged a crucial back-shoulder throw from Rodgers for the touchdown.

In post-game reflections with Amazon Prime Video, Rodgers shared his optimism, stating: "Once 5 (Wilson) and I get on that same page, it's gonna be special."

He didn't miss the chance to address the loyal Jets fanbase either, acknowledging their long-suffering endurance through thick and thin and last year's let-down. He spoke about his eagerness to transform the fortunes in New York.

Describing his elation, Rodgers expressed: "It felt great. To be able to play an entire game in front of our amazing fans. Division opponent. I feel like we started faster than we have. We were way more efficient.

"Had a lot of guys involved. A lot of guys made a lot of plays tonight. Feel like the line did a nice job up front. We had to finish drives, and we did a good job of that.

"We're trying to change this whole attitude around here. We're trying to build something special around here, get these fans to believe in us.

"They've been tortured for a long time. Last year was obviously a tough year, but it's good to be back, good to be healthy. It's great to be a Jet, great to have nights like this, and even better to have a weekend off!".

After three games crammed into 11 days, the Jets can enjoy a breather with a 10-day respite before their next clash. The team is gearing up to welcome the Denver Broncos at MetLife Stadium on Sunday, Sept. 29.
