Alvaro Morata tells Liverpool 'I have good memories against you' in stark warning

Alvaro Morata is set to challenge Liverpool once again - and he's never been on the losing side against the Reds.

The AC Milan striker boasts an unbeaten record against the Reds with two draws and one victory from his Chelsea days, as well as a subsequent stint at Atletico Madrid that saw him end Liverpool's European dominance during the 2019/20 campaign.

As Milan gears up for a clash that rekindles memories of epic Champions League finals, Morata reflects on his record: "I have good memories in the past against Liverpool, but now a new chapter begins. We have the number seven on our sleeve, it's a responsibility.

"We have to improve but there is a lot of quality in this team and we can grow. When I signed with this club I didn't imagine I would play the first Champions League match against Liverpool at San Siro. It's a match that in the past was worth a final, a game that made the history of this sport. We can't wait to get on the pitch."

Morata added: "We have to believe and not be moody. We need to play with our ideas. If we don't believe in it first, the people around us won't believe it either. We still haven't shown how strong we are as a team and our individual qualities. We all have an excellent career behind us, we are ready to win and show that we are top-level players."

Seven-time Champions League winners Milan have only progressed from the group stage once in the past decade when it reached the semifinals two years ago. Paulo Fonseca replaced Stefano Pioli as boss at the San Siro during the summer, with his side having made a slow start in Serie A. Saturday's 4-0 win over Venezia was their first win of the campaign after two draws and a defeat.

There is unlikely to be a capacity crowd at the San Siro for the game, as there were still 20,000 tickets available on Monday morning for a stadium that can hold 75,000.
