BBC Breakfast's Charlie Stayt leaves guest concerned as she labels him 'peaky'

BBC Breakfast's Charlie Stayt found himself in an unexpected health checkup on live TV, courtesy of guest Jenny Eclair.

Back on the show on Thursday morning (October 24) with his co-presenter , the duo tackled the day's big stories before sitting down with comedian and author Jenny. The 64-year-old was there to chat about her new book release and career achievements, sparking plenty of laughs between her and the presenting pair, but she couldn't help but show some concern for Charlie's wellbeing.

As their conversation neared its conclusion, Jenny quipped: "It's really lovely to see you both! I hope you get better because I can see you're a bit peaky."

This left Charlie to firmly assure his audience and guest by saying: "I'm absolutely fine!" Despite his protests, Jenny sought solidarity from Naga, pressing: "He's peaky isn't he?"

As Charlie tried to brush it off with a comment about the state of the studio floor saying: "I'm just sorry you had to witness the mess!" he couldn't escape the observant eye of Jenny, reports .

Adding to the lighter moments on set, Jenny faced a small embarrassment realising she was wearing the same scarf as in a promo photo displayed during the show. Charlie, seizing another moment for humour, recommended: "If you come and see us in two years or five years' time, wear the same thing again!"

He even suggested that Jenny should consider leaving her now notable scarf at the as a memento. Jenny, blushing, quipped: "Can you imagine? I'm so embarrassed, not!"

Fans at home also noticed this and took to X to voice their opinions. One fan commented: "Jenny. Jenny! You were fab on morning TV just now. No need to apologise for your gorgeous, glowing orange scarf. Totally acceptable and often essential to regularly wear a comfy and flattering, reliable neckerchief! I am sure all OWLs would agree. Enhances your artiness!"

This follows an incident earlier this month when viewers were irked by Charlie's apparent dig at weather presenter Carol Kirkwood. After spotting some technical glitches, Charlie asked: "Are you going to fix this Carol?

"This has been going on for many hours now. Is anything actually happening? Are you going to fix it?" Carol responded: "Of course Charlie! Of course, we are. It is a big problem, it's not just one that can be sorted like that," she retorted while clicking her fingers.

However, Charlie's demeanour didn't sit well with viewers, with many calling for him to say sorry. One disgruntled viewer vented at the time: "Absolutely disgraceful by Charlie on BBC Breakfast. There's a glitch on the app showing incorrect wind speeds. He shouted at Carol and demanded to know when it would be fixed. Embarrassing and petulant. He owes her an apology."
