BBC Sherwood fans 'absolutely broken' as beloved character is killed in major twist

Send Push

Sherwood fans were gobsmacked on Sunday night as the BBC series served up a shocking twist in its penultimate episode on September 8.

The drama took a turbulent turn, leaving viewers speechless when Daphne Sparrow (played by Lorraine Ashbourne) found herself in a series of revelations following Ann's (Monia Dolan) arrest for murder, which delighted Harry (Michael Balogun).

A triumphant Harry exclaimed: "I've been waiting a long time to say this," as he cuffed Ann and Roy (Stephen Dillane), taking them into custody.

The scene was set for further bombshells after Daphne decided to come clean about her undercover past over a heart-to-heart with Mickey (Philip Jackson), only for him to reveal he already knew she was a 'spy cop'.

In what appeared to be a tender moment, Mickey hushed his wife, saying "Save it for the long road" oblivious to the fact that his fate had been sealed, reports the Express.

Disaster struck the following day when, despite police protection for Daphne being lifted, she learned from a taxi driver that Ann had been released, prompting a race against time as she made a desperate dash to warn Mickey about the danger.

A tragedy unfolded as, unbeknownst to Daphne, the menacing Ann got to Mickey first, delivering a fatal shot to his stomach. With his dying breath, Mickey beseeched "Just me, no others", attempting to protect his loved ones from Ann's wrath.

Daphne's frantic search concluded with the devastating sight of Mickey collapsing on their living room floor, leading to an agonisingly poignant moment as she lay beside him, embracing him in his final moments.
