A parcel thief has been captured "swiping" a package from outside somebody's house before fleeing the scene in broad daylight.

The man, who was dressed in a dark coat and grey hoodie, could be seen climbing up the stairs to the property before he picked up the parcel by the front door in Edinburgh. The incident happened on South Gyle Mains shortly before noon on September 26.

The brazen moment was caught on the resident's Ring doorbell camera, which has since been uploaded online. Another camera, which was positioned at the front of the home, filmed the man as he strolled off with the parcel whilst hiding it under his arm. He was also recorded holding what appeared to be cans of drink.

According to the resident, this was not the first time that someone had taken his items from his doorstep. He shared the footage on Facebook in a bid to retrieve his belongings, reports Edinburgh Live. In June 2024 a similar incident took place when a man was allegedly caught stealing £400 worth of birthday presents from a local mum's front door. The resident said she purchased the gifts for his mum's 80th birthday.

Footage showed the brazen figure appearing in the building wearing a dark jacket and blue jeans before he approached the front door of the home. He appeared to have a bag in his hand and the resident claims another neighbour unwittingly buzzed him into the building before he "made off" with the goods.
