Bridgerton will have to break Netflix's toughest record for one sibling

Fans of the hit Netflix series are on tenterhooks for news about season 4, which is said to be airing in 2026. The period drama, set in the Regency era, has been a global sensation, with each season focusing on a different sibling from the Bridgerton family as they find their perfect match.

Despite its immense popularity, the show faces a tough challenge if it wants to dedicate a season to each sibling. Based on Julia Quinn's romance novels of the same name, the series would need to run for eight seasons to achieve this.

The Bridgerton clan consists of eight siblings, each the focus of one of the eight books: Anthony (Jonathan Bailey), Benedict (Luke Thompson), Colin (), Daphne (Phoebe Dynevor), Eloise (Claudia Jessie), Francesca (Hannah Dodd), Hyacinth (Florence Hunt) and Gregory (Will Tilston).

Young Gregory, still a child in the series, takes centre stage in the final book, which would form the basis of the eighth and last season.

However, Bridgerton will have to defy the odds to reach this point, given Netflix's reputation for axing shows well before their network TV counterparts, reports .

Massive hits like Stranger Things, The Crown, and Sex Education have never hit the coveted eight-season mark.

Netflix's longest-running original is Emmy-nominated Grace and Frankie, about two women bonding after their husbands declare love for each other, reports .

It starred Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin and lasted one season fewer than Bridgerton to complete its arc.

With Bridgerton's sibling-per-season format, it's looking unlikely we'll witness Gregory's search for romance.

Bridgerton enthusiasts were thrilled to learn that season four will zoom in on Benedict, the clan's most relaxed member, as he finds his soulmate.

has teased a scene where Benedict is entranced by a at a masquerade ball thrown by his mother without giving away too much.

Showrunner Jess Brownell is gearing up to start filming season four's eight fresh episodes in London, though the exact date is still under wraps. Fans, however, know they'll need to hold tight until 2026 to see the action.

The teaser promised: "Next season's most compelling match will be unmasked. Welcome to the marriage mart, Benedict."

The initial three series of Bridgerton centred on siblings Daphne (Phoebe Dynevor), Anthony (Jonathan Bailey) and Colin (Luke Newton) respectively, with the third series also showcasing Francesca's (Hannah Dodd) blossoming love story.

Bridgerton series one to three can be streamed exclusively on Netflix right now.
