Send Push

There is now officially a month of the summer transfer window remaining as clubs look to complete deals in anticipation for the start of the new Premier League season.

Chelsea are among the teams to have been active in the window, both in terms of incomings and outgoings. The Blues are closing in on the signing of Ajax defender Jorrel Hato and when his move is confirmed he will become the club's eighth new arrival of the window.

One of the arrivals, Kendry Paez, who joined from Ecuadorian side Independiente, has joined Strasbourg on loan as he looks to gain experience of European football.

Chelsea start their Premier League season in just over two weeks when they take on Crystal Palace at Stamford Bridge. The game kicks off on Sunday, August 17 at 2pm. In the build-up to that game, there could still be a few changes to the squad.

With that in mind, we’ve taken a look some of the latest stories and also added our own thoughts on the situation.

Garnacho bid 'expected'

Chelsea are reportedly 'expected' to make an offer for Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho before the transfer window shuts, with the club doing background checks on the player.

The Telegraph report that the Blues have no concerns over Garnacho’s character after carrying out a series of checks ahead of making a move for the Argentine. It is added that the club are expected to put in a bid before the end of the summer window.

To make that bid, Chelsea will need to make room in their squad with Christopher Nkunku and Armando Broja expected to leave on permanent deals, while Tyrique George could move out on loan.

football.london says : Reports over Garnacho’s behaviour, such as his social media activity, may have been cause for concern for Chelsea, with the club right to do their due diligence before making a move for the winger.

Waiting until later in the window may be a good move for Chelsea, with the possibility of United reducing their asking price further. It also allows the Blues more time to move players out.

Transfer deal 'agreed'

One forward who is now closing in on an exit from Stamford Bridge for the season is striker Marc Guiu.

Various reports say that Chelsea have agreed a loan move for the striker to move to newly-promoted Sunderland. The deal is a straight loan move with no buy option.

Guiu’s full salary will also be covered by Sunderland.

football.london says: Moving on loan to the Stadium of Light is a perfect move for all parties. Guiu will get some much needed game time where he can continue to adapt to English football, while he will hope to help Sunderland to retain their place in the Premier League.

Chelsea will hope he will come back a better player, full of confidence and ready to challenge in the front line for the start of next season.
