In a twist of fate, a Leicester City Council van got a taste of its own medicine after being ticketed by the council's parking warden.
The incident, which unfolded today near the Clock Tower in the heart of Leicester, tickled passersby who couldn't resist snapping photos and chuckling at the sight. Photojournalist Craig was on the scene to capture the moment. He reported: "Lots of [people were] just laughing and taking pictures of the ticket."
It's worth noting that the area around the Clock Tower is off-limits to vehicles. In Leicester, motorists hit with a parking fine face a £70 charge, but this can be halved if they cough up within a fortnight.
According to the council's parking enforcement bible: "All council officers and councillors on duty are expected to comply with parking regulations fully. Failure to do so may result in the issue of a PCN [penalty charge notice]," reports Leicestershire Live.
The latest figures reveal a bumper month for the council in June 2024, with a whopping 8,953 parking fines dished out, raking in £262,711. This marks a jump from the previous year's June tally of 7,951 tickets and £236,054 in fines.
