Elderly woman dies after being found 'trapped under vehicle' at home as police investigate tragedy

Detectives are probing the death of an elderly woman tragically found dead 'trapped under a vehicle'.

The woman, whose identity has not been released, died at the house on Bowling Green Avenue in Wilnecote near Tamworth, Staffs., on Tuesday morning. Emergency services rushed to the scene after being called just before 11am.

Sadly, despite the best efforts of paramedics, the woman was unable to be saved and she was pronounced dead at the scene. Staffordshire Police has since erected a cordon as they worked to uncover the circumstances surrounding the OAP's tragic death.

A spokesperson for the force said: "We have put a cordon in place following the death of a woman in Tamworth today (Tuesday 17 September). We were called by colleagues from West Midlands Ambulance Service to a property on Bowling Green Avenue.

"Officers went to the scene alongside colleagues from Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service and found an elderly woman trapped under a vehicle. Sadly, despite the best efforts of emergency services, the woman died at the scene.

"Officers set up a cordon around the address and have been speaking to nearby residents to find out more about what happened. Enquiries are ongoing."
