Emmerdale return 'rumbled' for Robert Sugden 'in Christmas twist' after Aaron scene

fans are hoping Robert Sugden is about to make an epic return to the soap amid a twist.

There's been all kinds of teasers and rumours recently suggesting Robert could make a comeback, while he remains in prison. He's still serving his sentence after causing the death of Lee Posner, while there was some hints that Lee's death was also or solely caused by Luke Posner.

That's all been forgotten about, until the recent death of Rebecca White. Rebecca was the mother of Robert's son Seb, who at one point was being raised by Robert and his husband Aaron Dingle.

He's now staying with an aunt away from the village, and on Tuesday we saw Aaron discussing this with Robert's sister Victoria Sugden. Neither of them have been in contact with Robert for some time now, but Ross Barton dropped some news recently.

Ross confirmed Robert knew Rebecca had died and allowed the aunt to become Seb's guardian, without telling his family. Not only that but he apparently said it was no one's business, not wanting to see or speak with his relatives about it.

On Tuesday Aaron reminisced about his life with ex Robert, clearly missing him. The news about Rebecca and Seb had reopened old wounds and got him thinking about Robert.

He and Victoria talked about whether Seb's move was the right thing, as Aaron suggested he could have come to village where they could have shared the role of looking after him. Aaron seemed sad about the fact they lot touch and he never got to be "a proper dad" to his stepson.

Victoria reassured Aaron, who is now seeing Robert's secret brother John Sugden. The pair were both looking at a picture in a keyring of Robert, holding Seb when he was a baby.

Aaron's desire to go back to that time when everything was okay and he was happy left John unnerved, with him listening in. But the scene, the image of Robert, the recent news about Seb and even John's arrival left many fans predicting Robert could finally return.

Amid a reported surprise arrival happening this Christmas, viewers are convinced Robert may return to the show. One fan posted: "I think we will see Seb come back soon, that would give Robert a reason to come back."

Another agreed: "Would be nice to see him back!" A third added: "Who reckons Robert will be back ( special)," as a fourth fan commented: "Hopefully he will be back. Love to see him get back with Aaron."
