Ex-Liverpool boss opened up about during his managerial career, revealing how he missed out on signing Kevin De Bruyne.

Speaking at an event in Cape Town to mark the ten-year anniversary of Hout Bay United Football Community, Klopp reflected on some of the players he missed out on during his career.
"I could've signed Son from . At that time, he was at Hamburg" said the 57-year-old. I don't even remember why [I didn't sign him] and just facing him in the , I thought 'My God, you dumb s--- [for not signing him].' It's crazy.
"Kevin De Bruyne was that close. Then he smashed us in the cup final with Wolfsburg, so that was a double minus. Though I don't think it generally makes too much sense to regret stuff, but you did the best probably at the time, so deal with it."
After a loan spell at Werder Bremen, De Bruyne had the opportunity to return to the Bundesliga on loan to Klopp's Dortmund,. However, Chelsea's then-manager, , decided to keep De Bruyne at Stamford Bridge, where he made just three Premier League appearances before making a permanent move t.o Wolfsburg. He told TNT Sports: "I signed for Chelsea knowing that I would be loaned out the first year and if I do really well we'll see what happens.
"I did the pre-season, went to Werder Bremen, had a really good year. In the summer it was a little bit of a toss-up, I could have went to Dortmund with Klopp at the time or stayed, and Jose wanted me to stay. It just didn't work out, I was maybe just a little bit impatient at the time also, but I just wanted to play football."
The Belgian midfielder, who has been a key figure at City since joining from Wolfsburg in 2015, made over 400 appearances for the club. During his time at City, De Bruyne won six Premier League titles, one , two , and five . He is also known for his close friendship with the Liverpool captain.
