Customers grabbing a coffee could strike gold at their local if they snap-up a 'mystery' bag.
The company wants to cut waste while linking them with local businesses selling surplus food at discounted price. It encourages customers to download ancalled 'Too Good To Go' and buy "Magic Bags," which contains unsold food from restaurants, bakeries would usually go to waste. People, however, won't know what's inside until the purchases is made. The reports one person was delighted when bought Too Good To Go bags Alister James McRoberts showed off the contents which he bought from his local cafe in Elgin, , for just £5.90.
He 'struck gold' with seven bags filled with plain croissants, almond croissants, chocolate twists, a cinnamon roll and a Halloween cake pop. The savvy foodie also received six trays of chocolate and caramel shortbread. He joked the 35 slices would come in handy as he is visiting his family tomorrow – adding: "Get the kettle on."
The items cost around £3.15 depending on your location - meaning Alister received more than £115 in shortbread alone. The pastries are also priced around £3 each, so a huge saving was made there too. More than 100 users rushed to the comments section to share their thoughts - with many saying they were 'jealous' of Alister's bags. "What a bloody bargain," one person raved.
Another agreed, commenting: "Looks yummy." A third added: "I wish my Starbucks did this," while a fourth penned: "Blimey! I like the random cake pop." On TikTok, user @Jax4154, aka MeatSmokeBoss, boasted about his haul from Westcliff-on-Sea station's Coffee Station in Essex, flaunting his find: "Remember, this was £4." Footage revealed an impressively hearty array containing an egg and cress sandwich, a cheese salad sandwich, and even an egg and bacon sarnie priced at £2.90 solo. But there was more his second bag burst with two almond croissants, two cinnamon and raisin swirls, a cheesy ham croissant, and three "hot slices" which, as @Jax4154 delightedly noted, were "still hot".
Wrapping up his viral clip with excitement, he exclaimed: "Now that is going to be a hard one to beat!" Since being posted, the video amassed over 1,500 views as viewers concurred with his item evaluations. One impressed commenter stated: "That's a bargain." Another added: "You got a good one for Westcliff area brother." A third viewer humorously poked fun at his confusion over the unidentified "hot slices", commenting: "You were doing so well naming the items at the beginning, all went out the window at the end."
