Ruben Amorim has been backed as the right man to lead .
Amorim is set to take over from Erik ten Hag, following a dismal start to the season. Ten Hag paid the price after winning just four games in all competitions this campaign.
United as his permanent successor, with until the upcoming international break. The Portuguese boss has led Sporting Libson to two Primeira Liga titles in his four years in charge.
He ended a title drought of 19 years in his first full season as Sporting boss. And former Aston Villa star Gabby Agbonlahor, who did his coaching badges with Amorim, is adamant the 39-year-old is the right man for United.

"I did do my coaching badges with him. You do your own sessions because you have to pass the badges. But he was one of the ones who was there and you could tell was so into it in a way that he had to get his badges to go and start managing," he told talkSPORT.
"It's not as easy as people think. You put on different sessions. The first one I put on was a crossing and finishing session, keep ball session then a shooting session. He was very focused.
"Since the start of last season, Sporting Lisbon have scored the most goals in the top six leagues. They were waiting 19 years to win a title, he goes there and they've won two in the last five seasons.
"I just think when you look at what he's done since leaving Braga to Sporting Lisbon, winning their first title in 19 years, Manchester United have got the right man."
HAVE YOUR SAY! Is Ruben Amorim the right man for Manchester United? .
United have been locked in negotiations with Sporting all week, having already agreed to pay his £8.3m release clause. But Amorim believes those negotiations, which are currently centred on the release of his coaching staff, will come to a successful end soon.
“It’s a negotiation between two clubs, which isn’t easy. After the game on Friday, we will have all these clarifications. Then the decision will be known. Soon the soap opera will end," he said.
"I think that in everyone’s life there are times when we’re doing really well, but then we want something more, maybe to prove something more. I think all coaches need a good backroom staff.
“I don’t want to go into too much detail. That was one of the reasons I always wanted to stay here, it was the people I work with.”
