King Charles is flogging his own-brand booze to tourists for as little as £6.50 after unveiling a pop-up gin bar at Sandringham estate.
Charles III is partial to a strong cocktail before dinner every night, according to royal commentator Gordon Rayner. His daily tipple is made with half gin and half dry vermouth, garnished with an olive or lemon twist and reports suggest His Majesty takes the ingredients with him when travelling overseas.
It is said he enjoys the drink stirred, not shaken, according to previous reports.
Earlier this year Charles, who is recovering from cancer, served up a new range of burgers at the 20,000-acre estate’s posh restaurant, while another pop-up stall sold homemade ice-cream. But it seems he has taken his love for gin to the next level and is opening a gin bar.
King Charles is quite the gin lover as he showed off his wild side after being filmed sipping straight gin while visiting Malton in Yorkshire last year.
The bar, which will be located at the Sandringham estate, is very reasonably priced, with a gin and tonic costing just £6.50 and other products in the estate shop include £6.99 Raspberry and Gin Preserve and £14.99 gin-flavoured chocolates, reports The Sun.
Guests can opt for a “full-bodied” raspberry and apple flavour made by steeping the fruit in distilled spirit, or “Celebration Gin” based on Sharon fruit, which is made using ingredients from Sandringham’s walled garden and is said to have “zesty citrus and delicate floral notes”.
Both served in a glass branded with the estate’s name and made using produce grown on the Norfolk estate.
