Leandro Trossard moment invited Saudi bid as Mikel Arteta and Arsenal make transfer decision

Leandro Trossard may well have invited a bid from the Saudi Pro League after performing a mean and moody rendition of his 'goggles' celebration. The 29-year-old winger, who has suddenly emerged as a target for Al-Ittihad, raised eyebrows when he glared down the camera lens after scoring for Arsenal last month.

For the second successive game, Trossard was nowhere to be seen in Mikel Arteta's starting lineup when the Gunners locked horns with Aston Villa. Despite an impressive end to the Premier League campaign, scoring five goals in his last eight matches, the Belgium international started the new season on the bench.

On the opening weekend, he was given a mere 10-minute cameo. Then, in gameweek two when Arsenal faced Unai Emery's side at Villa Park, Trossard replaced Gabriel Martinelli just after the hour-mark in a bid to find a winner.

No more than a minute or two after coming on, the Belgian fired the Gunners ahead. After beating Emiliano Martinez, Trossard ran over to a pitch-side camera and performed his 'goggles' celebration while scowling down the lens.

Speaking to Sky Sports about his celebration after the game, he said: "Everyone wants to start and play games, it's nice to help the team and score goals. There are so many emotions. When you score, it's like you don't know what is happening."

Then, speaking in his post-match press conference, Arteta confirmed that Trossard was upset. The Arsenal boss said: "When you don’t get picked there are certain ways to react. For Leo, he is upset, he is upset to show on the pitch how good he is.

"Not upset because he is not playing. And that is a huge quality. When you put him in the starting XI he does the exact same thing and that is a big example for the rest of the team. When he came in he was unbelievable. That is what we need."

By publicly displaying his dissatisfaction with being left out, Trossard may have given hope to teams trying to sign him in the transfer window. Despite this, football.london understands that Arsenal have no intention of letting him leave this summer.

It's believed that Al-Ittihad have submitted a €35m (£29.5m) bid for the forward Saudi Pro League transfer window deadline on Monday, September 2. The Gunners remain adamant that Trossard is not for sale, as Arteta regards the former Brighton ace as an important player.
