Madueke replacement signed, £40m decision, seven transfers sanctioned - Chelsea to-do list

Chelsea can switch their full focus back onto the summer transfer window after their stunning 3-0 victory over Paris Saint-Germain in the Club World Cup final on Sunday evening.

A Cole Palmer brace and Joao Pedro's third goal in two appearances sealed the victory that saw the Blues crowned as world champions. The latter is one of many new signings already confirmed with Dario Essugo, Mamadou Sarr, Liam Delap and Jamie Gittens also joining.

Those five signings have seen just over £150million spent but over half of that has been raised by the Blues winning a trophy in the United States. The remainder of that and more is also coming Chelsea's way with Noni Madueke and Djorde Petrovic imminently set to join Arsenal and Bournemouth for £52million and £25million, respectively.

With two exits agreed already, at least another five should arrive as Enzo Maresca looks to trim his squad. Joao Felix and Axel Disasi were two big names left out of Chelsea's Club World Cup squad and are therefore available for transfer after spending the final months of the 2024/25 season on loan elsewhere.

Renato Veiga and Armando Broja are two others free to depart permanently while Christopher Nkunku, despite his contributions stateside, is another unlikely to still be at the club amid interest from Bayern Munich.

With three attackers that were in the senior squad, especially considering Madueke's prominent role, set to move on, a versatile forward being targeted for the final weeks of the summer trading period seems very likely.

As Felix was mostly deemed surplus to requirements, a signing that can play all across the frontline to replace Nkunku and Madueke should be the aim. Finding that will likely be very difficult but with Pedro already in, a wide forward that can be deployed on both flanks is likely to be the aim.

Malick Fofana and Alejandro Garnacho, who have both been strongly linked, may suit that perfectly. The latter wants to stay in the Premier League and a deal with Manchester United may actually be simpler to navigate especially as Lyon have not been relegated from Ligue 1.

Interest in Garnacho is certainly present with several bids lodged back in January and United's demands are now likely to be lower as they want to sell and it is not in the middle of a season. If he only costs in the region of £40million, then it is a deal worth pursuing.

Ajax centre-back Jorrel Hato is another target of Chelsea likely to cost a similar amount, with Arsenal also interested, however, their move for Valencia's Cristhian Mosquera could allow Maresca and Co. a free run at the teenager.

Able to cover left-back as well, it seems a no-brainer deal to sanction, especially considering how much Marc Cucurella has played in the last 12 months.
