Maya Jama has fiercely slammed online trolls after attending the British boxing match between Anthony Joshua and Daniel Dubois over the weekend, which saw Joshua defeated.

The Love Island host was cruelly labelled a "prostitute", but she had a sharp retort ready, standing her ground firmly. The 30-year-old joined the crowd of 96,000 at Wembley Stadium on Saturday, 21 September to watch the much-anticipated fight between Anthony Joshua and Daniel Dubois.

Two-time world heavyweight champion Anthony was bested by Daniel that night, keeping sports fans and celebrities on tenterhooks. While Maya was simply a spectator at the match, enjoying her Saturday night, her presence drew the attention of internet trolls. On X, formerly known as Twitter, one troll harshly asked: "What's Maya Jama the prostitute a star of exactly?"

In response to the uncalled-for comment, Maya retweeted it and wrote: "discovered a new wave of middle-aged stay-at-home w***ers abuse this weekend, are you jealous I got tickets and you didn't? Or did having 2 relationships in 10 years become prostitution and I missed it?"

Another chimed in with an offensive post, writing: "You get paid for photos online of you in thongs etc," reports OK!. "If that's not prostitution I don't know what is." But Maya was resolute in not letting it slide, replying: "... no I don't? Where have you got that from."

Maya Jama received a wave of support after she highlighted the stark contrast between public adulation and online scrutiny, with one supporter noting: "Got one of the loudest cheers of the night by the Wembley crowd on Saturday tbf", prompting Maya to mention: "but online will make you feel like the world hates you, reminder to self not to pay attention." Fans rallied around, with one encouraging: "Maya please don't mind these jobless people."

Another fan insisted: "Ignore them, you still produced the absolute best live megamix I've ever heard and I've never woke up in a better mood than on that day a few years back. They can't handle that you have talent, personality and looks is all - jealousy." One user said: "Vogue cover star for a reason - an amazing journey and one to be celebrated. It's the hardest thing in the world but you have to ignore the haters. Without the oxygen of attention, they die."

One attendee from the Wembley event shared: "Must admit I was at Wembley on Saturday and seeing you on the big screen before the fight was one of the highlights of the evening. "Others continued to shower her with compliments: "You looked stunning maya, hope you had a good time. Haters gonna hate. Keep smiling."

After calling it quits with Stormzy for a second time in July, Maya Jama turned heads at Wembley Stadium wearing an oversized grey zip jumper paired with light wash jeans and a simple white strap top beneath. Her dark hair cascaded in a voluminous blow-dry, while bold winged eyeliner added a touch of dramatic glam.
