Michael Olise's staggering Bayern Munich wages after doubling his money in £49.5m transfer

Send Push

Michael Olise is now officially a Bayern Munich player, doubling his money in the process.

There had been widespread interest in Olise, who excelled for Crystal Palace at the tail end of last season. Chelsea made a renewed effort after missing out in 2023, only to withdraw from a bidding war late on, while a number of their Premier League rivals also showed interest.

It was Bundesliga side Bayern who won the race, though, signing the 22-year-old for £49.5million. Olise has joined England internationals Harry Kane and Eric Dier at the Allianz Arena, as the Bavarian side look to regain the title they lost to Bayer Leverkusen last time out.

The move will give Olise his first taste of Champions League football in the upcoming season. And, if reports are to be believed, the move will also see him double his wages.

According to The Mail, Olise will take home a hefty £220,000 per week at his new club. That's more than double what he was on at Palace, and comes after Chelsea withdrew amid worries financial terms over a deal were 'beyond reach'.

Chelsea's efforts to sign Olise in the summer of 2023 essentially ended when the player agreed fresh terms with Palace. The Eagles only got a year out of their star man before Bayern swooped, though.

Palace have already been busy in the transfer market during their first window with Oliver Glasner as manager. Glasner has secured a reunion with former Lazio star Daichi Kamada, who played under the boss at Eintracht Frankfurt, while Moroccan defender Chadi Riad has joined from Real Betis.

“The talks with FC Bayern were very positive, and I’m very happy to now be playing for such a big club," said Olise, who has signed a contract until 2029. "It's a great challenge, and that's exactly what I was looking for. I want to prove myself at this level and play my part in ensuring that we win as many titles as possible with our team in the coming years.”

“Michael Olise is a player who can make the difference and attracted great interest with his style of play," was the response from Max Eberl, Bayern's board member for sport. "We want new impetus in our team, new energy, new ideas – that’s what players like Michael Olise stand for.

"During the talks, he quickly signalled that he really wanted to join FC Bayern," Eberl added. "We’re very much looking forward to him. He will enrich our game.”

Bayern finished third in the Bundesliga last season under Thomas Tuchel, and have since brought in Vincent Kompany as their new manager. Their pre-season programme will see them take on Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur, among others, while Kompany's first Bundesliga campaign gets underway in August.
