Mother's Day weather sees temperatures start to climb with UK hotter than Ibiza at 23C

Brits will be basking in balmy on tomorrow as the UK becomes hotter than Ibiza - reaching highs of 23C in just days.

It comes after a partial solar eclipse graced our skies on Saturday morning amidst another warm start to the weekend, with skywatchers across the UK lining up to capture the rare astronomical event on camera. Temperatures are now expected to creep up in the coming days, starting off with highs of 17-19C at the start of the week, which are set to rise to 20-23C by Thursday and Friday. It means Britain will be even hotter than - where maximum temperatures will only reach 16C next week. Brits in the southeast will enjoy the warmest temperatures, with parts of south-west , the West Midlands, and north-west England also experiencing the peak of the warmth later in the week.

The warm blast comes after a brief period of unsettled on Friday and Saturday, described by the as occurring "in typical spring fashion". Despite the daytime heat, clear skies at night could bring chilly evenings, and in some parts of the country, frosty weather.

Met Office meteorologist Honor Criswick explained: "We are going to see a short-lived spell of unsettled weather this weekend before we transition back towards a blocked weather pattern as high pressure builds on Sunday and dominates our weather through much of next week. While daytime temperatures will be warm next week, nights will still be chilly and there is still a chance we could see some rural overnight frosts under the clear skies."

The forecaster said the UK can expect "warming" at the start of next month. However, it also warns that some more "unsettled" conditions could creep in. Its forecast for April 1 to April 10 states: "From the start of April, settled weather is expected to cover much of the UK. Most places are expected to be dry with clear or sunny spells and light winds.

"Inland areas will see a general day on day warming next week. It will probably remain slightly cooler near coastal areas, with an additional risk of mist or sea fog affecting parts of the east coast.

"There is a chance for more unsettled and perhaps cooler weather for a time. However the main signal is for dry and fine weather across the country during this period. Temperatures will likely be around or above normal and feeling warm during the day, and some cold nights are still possible when skies are clear."
