Australian band Trophy Eyes posted an update on the concertgoer who was left with 'catastrophic spinal injuries' when the lead singer launched himself into the crowd at a recent gig.

Bird Piché, 24, suffered a "catastrophic spinal cord injury" on April 30 at the Trophy Eyes concert at Buffalo, New York's Mohawk Place. The Australian post-punk rock band's leader John Floreani leapt from the stage and landed on her head. At the time, the band were quick to release a statement and said they were 'truly heartbroken' by the shocking incident.

Trophy Eyes stated that the tragedy had "shaken us all to our core." “Out of respect for the family, we have refrained from speaking about this publicly so far, but with the blessing of their family we are now able to say how truly heartbroken we are to be here now,” the band wrote. “Our friend, Bird, is now in recovery but still has a long road ahead for them.”

And now, the band provided an update on her recovery journey and said she has been making good progress. They said on Instagram: "We are happy to share that Bird is underway in the rehab phase of her recovery. With physical therapy, she has regained the movement in her arms and wrists, and feeling has returned to her legs and feet.

"We all share the same eager optimism for her recovery, however, spinal injuries are very serious, and require a lot of hard work and patience - the first year of rehabilitation is critical. Bird's tenacity and hard work means that, hopefully soon, she will leave her unit and continue her rehab and recovery in an accessible new home.

"There's still a very long road ahead for Bird and her family as they progress through her recovery, so we kindly ask that you keep them in your thoughts and continue to respect their privacy." They added that they are in 'frequent communication' with the fan and are 'working closely with the family to aid in her recovery in any way they can'.

A bartender at the venue claimed the establishment has had a rigorous "no crowd surfing policy" since 2011. The concertgoer sustained injuries to her spinal cord, and a GoFundMe page established to assist with her medical costs states that her stay in the hospital is indefinite.
