An animated series widely considered one of the greatest of all time has finally returned to after a wait of three years.
The nine-part debut dropped back in 2021 and quickly attracted a huge audience and received rave reviews.
Based on one of the most popular video games ever made, the epic animated fantasy has been celebrated for its worldbuilding, art style and voice cast.
However, its stunning animation meant so much care and attention went into the follow-up that viewers were left on tenterhooks for three years for it to be released.
The series in question is Arcane and subscribers are thrilled to see Vi (voiced by Hailee Steinfeld) and Jinx (Ella Purnell) finally back on screens.
Despite being based on the online multiplayer game League of Legends, the show has attracted a huge audience of non-gamers and is considered one of Netflix’s best outputs, scoring a coveted 100 percent on Rotten Tomatoes.
“Arcane is perfect. It's like damn you really just out here with some of the best storytelling in recent memory on top of the best looking animation I have ever seen,” one fan said on X (formerly ).
“Season 2 so far has skyrocketed it to one of my favorite pieces of media of all time. Can't wait for the rest.”
Sara Clements wrote for Nerdspin: “ARCANE is one of the best shows streaming right now & one of the best animated works of all time.
“The second season’s high-octane story reveals an even deeper emotional core & builds on everything so admired about season one.”
Another fan said of its return: “Arcane still is peak, the character work, directing, aesthetics, the political framings, the way the conflict unfolds with constant subversion and reconstruction of extremes that alternate in a miraculously natural flow, it's all as on point as ever, we're sooo back.”
And someone else said: “Finished watching Arcane and hoo boy, this s*** might be the best animated series of ALL TIME. No kidding. It was worth the wait. I can't wait for the next episodes.”
As well as several more fans dubbing Arcane “the best animated show of all time”, several viewers over on Reddit claimed its return is the only reason they’ve kept up their Netflix subscription.
“This show is pretty much the only reason I still have a subscription, and I’ll be cancelling again in December,” one user said. “I don’t think I’m the only one, either. Netflix owes a lot to Arcane.”
“Same. I hate Netflix and will make a point of cancelling it as soon as I finish rewatching Arcane 462747728 times this month,” read one reply.
And a third user said: “I got Netflix again just to watch Arcane and will be cancelling it again after the season is done.”
Arcane season 2, part 2 will be released Saturday, November 16 on Netflix.
