Sheffield Wednesday fans send three-word message to owner Dejphon Chansiri after wages finally paid

Sheffield Wednesday have staved off the threat of being banned from signing players for the next three transfer windows after owner Dejphon Chansiri finally paid Owls players their March wages.

Chansiri has come under increased scrutiny after his latest cock-up which saw him on time. If he had failed to stump up the cash by close of play on Monday, would have been prevented from spending fees on any new players until January 2027.

The Thai tuna magnate failed to give any assurances he would meet the deadline but, in a short statement, the club revealed on Monday morning that the payments had been satisfied.

"Sheffield Wednesday can confirm that all outstanding player salaries have been satisfied for the month of March," it read. "We thank everyone for their patience and understanding."

But Owls fans are at the end of their tether with Chansiri and fan groups have joined forces to try and force change at Hillsborough. Despite the immediate threat being staved off, the Sheffield Wednesday Supporters' Trust have stated: "This changes nothing."

"Sheffield Wednesday Supporters Trust acknowledges the recent development regarding the payment of players' wages but firmly believes that this does not address the broader issues facing the club," they added. "While we appreciate that the immediate crisis has been averted, we remain deeply concerned about the long-term stability and management of Sheffield Wednesday.

"We and many others note a pattern here, are these crises genuine, or are they manufactured to create a dependency? We are committed to working with other fan groups and wider agencies to advocate for a change in ownership that will bring sustainable and responsible leadership to our club.

"The trust and confidence of the fans have been repeatedly undermined by ongoing financial mismanagement, and we believe that new ownership is essential to restore stability and pride in Sheffield Wednesday.

"We urge all members of the Sheffield Wednesday community to continue supporting the players, coaching staff, and club employees, who have shown remarkable resilience during these challenging times. Our combined efforts are directed towards ensuring a brighter future for the club, and we will not rest until meaningful changes are achieved."

Highly-rated Wednesday boss Danny Rohl cut a despondent figure as he spoke of his pride in his team for their performance against Hull on Saturday, despite wages being a week late at that point and with no guarantees as to when they might be paid.

The Tigers sealed a crucial three points in their survival bid thanks to a stoppage-time Charlie Hughes header. It pulled them three points clear of the drop zone and effectively ended the Owls' season, leaving them eight points adrift of the top six.
