Apple has just released some surprise news that confirms why now is the worst time possible to switch to a new iPhone. The US technology giant announced earlier this week that it will be holding its next big launch event - dubbed "Glowtime!" - on Monday, September 9 which is not when many, including Mirror Online, were expecting.
Almost all of Apple's previous iPhone events have taken place much later in the week and it's incredibly rare for the company to unveil things right after the weekend.
However, that's exactly what's happening in 2024 and if you are in need of a new iPhone we'd definitely wait just a few more weeks.
Not only is Apple about to refresh its entire lineup of call makers but it's almost certain that current models, such as the iPhone 15 and iPhone 14, will get a price reduction making them cheaper to own.
If you pay full price for these phones now you could be sorely disappointed next month when their prices suddenly plummet.
So what will be new on the iPhone 16?
All has now sent out invites to its global event at Apple Park in Cupertino with things kicking off from 6pm BST on Monday, September 9.
Although we know the date and time Apple always keeps its new devices very close to its chest so we won't get full details until CEO Tim Cook reveals all the news on stage at the Steve Jobs Theatre.
What we are expecting is an update that will include new iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro devices which are sure to be faster, get improved battery life and quicker refilling.
Brighter displays may feature along with improvements to the camera and an update to the Action Button which will allow users to quickly access more features via touch and swipes.
Some are also speculating that the Action Button - which is currently only available on the iPhone 15 Pro models - will also be included on the standard iPhone 16 as well.
Other changes could include a dedicated button for taking photos, new designs with extra colours and things could be thinner and lighter this year.
A new service called Apple Intelligence is also likely to be a big change to these new iPhones.
Apple confirmed this new AI software back in June, and it brings an updated Siri with the ability to pull data from all your apps so you can ask more detailed questions and get accurate answers. An example is asking your iPhone what time you need to pick someone up from the airport, and your iPhone will scan your emails, texts, and other data - privately - to find the correct answer, including scanning up-to-date flight times to account for delays.
