TripAdvisor has announced its top 10 hidden gem restaurants in the UK, with the top three all being applauded by guests for their authenticity, value for money, service and flavourful dishes.
Each year the review platform announces its Travellers' Choice Awards, which includes a list of the best places to eat which are a bit off the beaten path. As well as a world top ten, there is a UK only list. Here are the winners.
Lavang, SolihullNestled within the small market town of Solihull, outside of Birmingham, you will find Lavang — a restaurant serving South East Asian cuisine. With an extensive menu, there is something for everyone and has been noted by TripAdvisor as a "culinary gem that has captured the hearts of many diners with its vibrant and welcoming ambiance, accented by stylish décor and unique dry ice effects". Numerous of the restaurants five-star reviews note the delicious cuisine, which uses fresh ingredients and comes in generous portion sizes.

One recent review applauding the restaurant stated: "I decided to ask the waiter to recommend a dish for me. After a couple questions he said I have just the one. When the food arrived I was taken back with the great presentation but that was nothing in comparison to how it tasted. All of the food for the table not only presented well but tasted amazing. A local restaurant decorated stylishly with polite and helpful staff with a great atmosphere."

Sotto Sotto, BathHiding away in an enchanting underground cellar in the historic streets of Bath, you will find Sotto Sotto — a cosy, atmospheric and mysterious dining experience. Often remarked as the perfect date spot, Sotto Sotto serves an Italian cuisine which is known for its authentic flavour. Those who have dined at Sotto Sotto also have noted its value or money, which is perfectly balanced with the quality of the dishes served.
This month, couple Rox and Mae, got engaged at the restaurant. In a review, the couple stated: "I would like to thank Antonio, Mikela and the rest of the staff who helped me prepare my wedding proposal to my partner while celebrating my birthday. The owner and staff are all accommodating."
"The food are so delicious from starters to dessert. The ambience is very homey. I will definitely give this restaurant a 5-star rating. Thank you again and we will absolutely coming back for more for our special occasions."
If visiting the city, and in particular the Roman Baths which are only a few steps away, this is the perfect dining spot. As the restaurant is very small (and popular) booking way in advance is highly recommended.
Coronation Curry House, BristolSecuring TripAdvisor's third spot is Coronation Curry House in Bristol. Known for its personalised service and excellent value, Coronation Curry House serves flavourful curries like Madras and Paneer Masala. Guests commend the restaurant for its vibrant and family-friendly atmosphere as well as the live music which takes place.
One recent review stated: "Excellent meal from a restaurant that clearly cares about its food. Very warm welcome from the waiter and the owner, who explained many of their dishes to us, made us feel at home and kept us entertained. He even let us choose the music."
