And, hours after the match, it was confirmed by UEFA that Romero had been named as 'Player of the Tournament' for the Europa League this term.

Romero was named Player of the Tournament for the Europa League by a the Technical Observer Group for UEFA.
A technical observer was in attendance at the San Mames Stadium, praising the Tottenham captain - at least on the night - for his performance in the showpiece. "It was a dominant performance from start to finish by Romero," the technical observer is quoted as saying.
The announcement from UEFA sees Romero get the last laugh after during the final. The United centre-back could be seen saying: "You're the captain, come on!" to Romero after the Tottenham star was holding his face while on the floor after an inadvertent collision with Rasmus Hojlund.
Romero was also included in the Europa League team of the tournament by UEFA.
The Argentina international was joined by Spurs teammates Guglielmo Vicario, Pedro Porro and Dominic Solanke in the line-up, with captain Bruno Fernandes and Casemiro the only inclusions for United.
