Recent reports indicate that Indian fast bowler Harshit Rana will remain in England following his participation with India A, as he is set to engage in county matches. As per sources, the Indian cricket team considers Rana a valuable backup seamer and intends to keep him available in case of any squad adjustments during the ongoing tour.
Rana was selected for the India A tour that commenced on May 30, where Abhimanyu Easwaran was set to lead the team in two unofficial Test matches before their return to India. Upon completion of the tour, Rana was advised by the England coaching staff to participate in county games, positioning him as a potential replacement should any player sustain an injury.
Harshit Rana's Journey Post Border-Gavaskar Trophy
Rana's impressive performance in the 2024 IPL significantly raised his profile, earning him a spot in all three formats for India. Although he made his debut in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, he was not included in the squad for the five-match series against England.
During the BGT, Rana's contributions were limited, as he managed to secure only four wickets across three matches, leading to his exclusion from the team. As of now, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has not issued any official statement regarding Rana's extended stay in England.
