Light to moderate rainfall is anticipated across most areas over the next week, with thunderstorms and gusty winds expected in northwest India for the next 3-4 days.
The Northern Limit of Monsoon is currently positioned at 17.0°N/55°E, 17.5°N/60°E, 18°N/65°E, 18.5°N/70°E, including locations such as Mumbai, Ahilyanagar, Adilabad, Bhawanipatna, Puri, Sandhead Island, 23.5°N/89.5°E, Balurghat, and 30°N/85°E. This movement signifies the advancement of monsoon rains into the northern regions of the country.
A depression that formed over Bangladesh has shifted north-northeast and has weakened into a well-defined low-pressure area over Meghalaya and surrounding regions by 5:30 PM on May 30. By 5:30 AM on May 31, it further diminished into a low-pressure area over northeast Assam, becoming less pronounced by 8:30 AM. Nevertheless, a cyclonic circulation persists over Arunachal Pradesh in the lower atmosphere, which is expected to bring significant rainfall to the state and its neighboring areas.
A western disturbance, manifesting as a cyclonic circulation, remains active over northern Pakistan and adjacent Jammu & Kashmir at altitudes ranging from 3.1 km to 5.8 km above mean sea level. This weather system is anticipated to affect local weather patterns in the upcoming days, resulting in rainfall across northwest India.
