Aadhaar Misuse Check: In today's time, the Aadhaar card has become a very important document. Whether it is to travel, gain admission in school/college, or open a bank account, Aadhaar number is asked for identification everywhere. This has made it easier to avail government services and banking facilities.
But as much its use has increased, it has also become a target of fraud and forgery. Many times someone else can use our Aadhaar without our knowledge. In such a situation, it is important that we keep checking from time to time whether our Aadhaar is being misused or not.
How to know where your Aadhaar has been used?
UIDAI (Unique Identification Authority of India) has provided an online facility called 'Authentication History', through which you can see when and where your Aadhaar was used.
Know the step-by-step method here
1. First of all you have to go to myAadhaar portal.
2. Fill in your 12-digit Aadhaar number and captcha code there. Then click on 'Login with OTP' and login with the OTP received on your registered mobile number.
3. After login, click on 'Authentication History' option and select the date between which you want to see the information.
4. There you will see a list of all the uses of your Aadhaar. If you see any suspicious or unknown information, report it immediately.
If you find something wrong, where to complain?
If you find something wrong in this process, then you can register a complaint by calling UIDAI's helpline number 1947. Or you can send an email to help@uidai.gov.in.
If you want that no one can misuse your fingerprints or eye scan, then you can lock the biometric information of your Aadhaar.
Method of locking biometrics
1. Go to UIDAI's website and go to the "Lock/Unlock Biometrics" section.
2. Enter Virtual ID (VID), name, PIN code and captcha.
3. Verify with OTP and then lock the biometrics.
Some important advice
Keep checking your Aadhaar activity from time to time.
Keep updating Aadhaar details like mobile number, address and biometrics - especially if you have not updated it for the last 10 years, or there has been an accident due to which the biometrics have changed, or the child has completed 15 years of age.
