The Government of India started the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PM Jan Dhan Yojana-PMJDY) in the year 2014 so that all people have a bank account. 10 years of this scheme have been completed. If we talk about the success of the scheme, then this scheme was liked by the people a lot.

According to Jan Dhan, women are ahead of men
Women had the highest participation in the scheme as compared to men. Women's share in the Jan-Dhan Account is 80 percent. Women's participation in the scheme was 26 percent in 2011 and 78 percent in 2021. These figures show that Jan Dhan Yojana is very popular among women.

According to the data released by the Ministry, there are a total of 53.13 crore Jan Dhan accounts. Out of these accounts, 30 crore accounts belong to women. 35 crore accounts are opened in rural and semi-urban areas. PM Jan Dhan Yojana has reduced the rural-urban gap in terms of bank accounts to a great extent.

The scheme also reduced the gender gap in access to financial services to a great extent. In the year 2011, the gender gap in access to financial services was 20 percent and in 2017 it reduced to 6 percent.

The feature of PM Jan Dhan Yojana makes it special
By August 2024, 36.13 crore Rupay Debit Cards have been issued under the PM JanDhan Yojana. No amount is spent on issuing these cards. Apart from this, the account holder also gets an insurance benefit of Rs 2 lakh and an overdraft facility of Rs 10,000 on this card.

The State Bank of India said in a report that after the increase in PMJDY accounts, there has been a decline in crime rates, which has had a positive impact on society.

The popularity of Jan Dhan Yojana is also outside the country. This scheme is being praised abroad as well. After the G20 meeting in 2023, the World Bank said in its report that India has achieved its financial inclusion goals in just 6 years. This is a major achievement.
