NEET UG 2025: NEET UG students who want to take admission in MBBS have had a setback this year as well. While last year students were troubled by NEET UG paper leak, marks inflation, and high cutoff of MBBS, this year the corruption related to medical colleges is going to cause big harm. After the matter of a deal worth lakhs and crores for the recognition of medical colleges came to light, the National Medical Commission (NMC) has banned the increase in MBBS and PG seats. The commission has announced that for the academic year 2025-26, no approval will be given for an increase or renewal of new medical colleges and medical UG and PG seats.
The National Medical Commission, which monitors and controls medical education across the country, has taken this decision after a bribery case of Rs 1300 crore came to light.
Some time ago, the CBI, while taking action against corruption, exposed a big network of collusion between government officials and medical colleges. Taking action, the CBI has registered a case against 34 people, including officials of the Health Ministry and five doctors.
40 medical colleges obtained fake recognition
According to reports, it is being reported that more than 40 medical colleges across the country have obtained recognition by taking bribes, providing fake records, and manipulating inspections. It is alleged that bribes worth lakhs of rupees have been transacted through hawala between various teams, middlemen and medical college representatives.
