Recently, while promoting his latest release Jewel Thief - The Heist Begins, Saif Ali Khan confirmed in an interview that he will next begin work on Priyadarshan’s upcoming thriller.
Sharing the same, he told Bollywood Hungama, “Yes, I am doing a film with Priyadarshan next. I play a blind guy. Very exciting.”
Earlier, it was reported that Bobby Deol may play the antagonist opposite Saif in the film that is said to be a remake of Priyadarshan’s 2016 thriller Oppam. But, now a couple of new reports have claimed that the upcoming Hindi thriller will mark Saif Ali Khan’s reunion with Akshay Kumar after 18 years.

A source told Bollywood Hungama, “Akshay is a big fan of Oppam, and when Priyadarshan offered him the film, he took no time to sign the dotted line. He is excited to team up on a thriller with Priyadarshan.”
The source further added, “It is a pure two-hero battle between Akshay and Saif. The film goes on floors in August 2025 with a start-to-finish schedule.”
Another source informed Hindustan Times, “Akshay and Saif have always enjoyed working with each other and admired each other’s work. The moment they read the script, they knew they were on board”.

The source continued, “It’s a nail-biting and entertaining thriller film. Helmed by Priyadarshan, it will leave the audiences on the edge of their seats!”
While the details about Akshay’s role are now revealed, it is possible that he may play a villain opposite Saif. In the original, Mohanlal plays a blind man while Samuthirakani plays the serial killer.
