Renault India has unveiled its new India-focused transformation initiative called Renault. rethink, marked by the launch of the Renault Design Centre in Chennai. This newly inaugurated facility is set to be a cornerstone in Renault’s shift towards “designing in India,” building on its well-established “make in India” foundation. Strategically located near the Renault Nissan Technology & Business Centre India (RNTBCI), the design hub is poised to become a centre of innovation and excellence, driving the brand’s next growth phase in the country.

Five new models by 2025
Renault also confirmed that it will have five new cars by 2027 . The rollout will begin with two next-generation models, followed by two all-new SUVs based on a new platform, and later, an electric car will be launched. The company is also targeting a 5% share of the Indian passenger vehicle market , specifically within the A, B+, and C SUV segments. In addition to the planned EV, the company is also developing strong hybrid powertrain options as part of its broader push toward sustainable mobility .
Globally, the company has maintained strong momentum, with 12 vehicle launches in 2024 and another seven this year. The group reported a revenue of €56.2 billion, along with a record operating profit of €4.3 billion and a free cash flow of €2.9 billion.

Spread across 1,500 square metres, the facility is equipped with advanced technology and infrastructure aimed at fostering innovation, design excellence, and cross-functional collaboration. Touted as one of Renault’s most advanced design hubs globally, the Renault Design Centre Chennai brings together a range of next-generation capabilities under one roof. Among its key highlights is an Immersive Exhibition Space, a high-tech zone for 3D model evaluation and virtual reality experiences, enabling teams to visualise and fine-tune concepts in real-time.
The facility also boasts a Next-Generation Visualisation Studio, equipped with cutting-edge software and digital tools that support real-time design development and high-definition immersive presentations. A Creative Collaboration Zone offers an open, agile workspace to encourage brainstorming and co-creation among design teams.
A striking 8.5m x 2.4m high-performance LED wall—configured in a dual 16:9 format—serves as a platform for high-impact presentations and global project reviews. Additionally, three high-resolution VR setups enable fully immersive virtual walkthroughs of vehicle designs, enhancing early-stage evaluations before physical prototyping.
What sets this design centre apart is its unique architectural ethos. Built around the concept of Tactile Confluence, the space merges sleek European design elements with Indian cultural influences, offering a thoughtful and inspiring environment. Furthermore, the studio adopts a people-first design philosophy, featuring flexible WE/ME Zones that allow designers to step away from their desks, refresh their creativity, and collaborate in more dynamic settings.
