Karimganj (Assam) [India], July 2 (ANI): Assam Water Resources Minister Pijush Hazarika is closely monitoring the work of divisional engineers and officials to deal with the current flood situation in the state, according to an official statement.
After receiving instructions from the minister after his visit to the portion of the breached embankment at Bangkowal in Numaligarh yesterday, 12 Geo Tubes of 25 metre length have been made ready at Numaligarh today for repair of the breached embankment, the statement said.
On the other hand, Minister Hazarika also discussed with senior departmental engineers over phone on how to repair or rebuild the embankment that was washed away near the sluice gate at Hatimura in Kaliabor.
He also took stock of other urgent work being taken up by the department in every district of the state in the wake of the deluge.

He directed divisional engineers to make sincere and urgent efforts to save other embankments from getting washed away by flood waters. The chief engineer, meanwhile, has been instructed to ensure all materials are dispatched to the districts for flood control, the release said.
On the other hand, the Minister also instructed officials over the phone to remain prepared to deal with erosion-related issues once water of the Brahmaputra and it's tributaries recedes.

"Reconstruction of breached embankment in Bankuwal, Golaghat will start within 3 days with the help of new technologies to provide relief to the people at the earliest," Hazarika told media.
All engineers have been directed to focus on vulnerable and weaker embankments on a war footing.
The flood situation in Kaziranga National Park has turned critical, with rising water submerging a total of 95 forest camps out of the 233 camps present in the park.
Earlier, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma briefed Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the flood situation in the state.
He said Assam is experiencing a second wave of floods this year due to heavy rains in parts of its upper districts and in neighbouring Arunachal Pradesh. Sarma further detailed the relief measures undertaken by the state government on the issue.
PM Modi on his behalf assured Sarma that he would have full cooperation from the Centre in its hour of crisis. (ANI)
