New Delhi [India], November 7 (ANI): Rajya Sabha MP Kartikeya Sharma on Friday met Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari in New Delhi and held a detailed discussion on three major road-related issues concerning Panchkula district in Haryana.
The discussion was held on poor condition of Pinjore-Nalagarh four-lane (NH-105). This National Highway serves as an essential industrial corridor connecting Haryana with Himachal Pradesh. Several stretches of the road are in extremely poor condition, particularly near Pinjore and Sukhomajri, where large potholes and damaged layers have made vehicular movement difficult.
MP Kartikeya Sharma requested the Union Minister to direct the NHAI to undertake immediate repair and strengthening work, ensuring both road safety and smooth traffic flow.
Sharma also discussed the lack of lighting on the Mauli-Bagwali road (NH-344). The MP pointed out that this stretch has no street lighting at all, despite being a heavily used route for industrial and local traffic. The entire area remains dark at night, significantly increasing the risk of accidents.
He suggested that a special project be prepared for the installation of street lights along this section to improve visibility and road safety.
Sharma further noted that during the construction of the Himalayan Expressway (Pinjore Bypass), NHAI failed to construct adequate retaining walls, resulting in weakened foundations of several houses located along the road.
Recent rains caused the collapse of boundary walls and soil erosion, putting residents' lives at risk. The MP urged the Minister to direct NHAI to conduct a technical survey and construct new retaining walls immediately to prevent any potential loss of life or property.
Union Minister Nitin Gadkari took all three matters seriously, approved the submitted letters (marked them for action), and directed ministry officials to initiate prompt measures. He assured that these projects would be given priority in view of public interest and safety considerations. (ANI)
