Bengaluru: A nine-month-old baby boy has tested positive for Covid-19 in Bengaluru, Karnataka health officials said on Friday.
Principal Secretary of the Health & Family Welfare Department Harsh Gupta confirmed that the baby tested positive through a Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) on 22 May.
“The patient is stable and currently admitted to Vani Vilas Hospital in Kalasipalya, Bengaluru,” he said.
According to officials, the child is from Hoskote in the Bengaluru Rural district. He was first taken to a private hospital before being moved to the government-run Vani Vilas Hospital for treatment.
Earlier this week, on 21 May, Karnataka Health Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao said the state had 16 active Covid-19 cases.
As of 19 May, India had recorded a total of 257 Covid-19 cases. The Health Department continues to monitor the situation closely and urges people to stay alert.
