The Congress Working Committee (CWC) on Thursday strongly condemned the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, calling it a “cowardly” act and holding Pakistan responsible for "masterminding" it.
In an official resolution, the CWC said, "Cowardly terror attack in Pahalgam was masterminded by Pakistan." The committee added, "CWC expresses its deepest shock and condemnation of heinous terror attack in Pahalgam."
The CWC also highlighted that the deliberate targeting of Hindu pilgrims appeared to be aimed at inciting tensions across the country.
It stated, "Deliberate targeting of Hindus done to inflame passions across country; we appeal for calm in face of this grave provocation."
The party urged people to stay united and maintain peace despite the attempt to divide communities.
The statement comes as security forces continue to investigate the incident and increase presence in the region.
