Guwahati: Curfew is imposed in Churachandpur in Manipur from 6 PM of 16th October, 2024 and till 18th October.
The district administration stated that "Whereas, report has been received from the Superintendent of Police, Churachandpur that, there is a serious apprehension of breach of law-and-order situation in the entire town arcas of the district which will be detrimental to the general public peace and tranquility,"
It further stated, "whereas, upon careful consideration there is an urgent need to maintain law and order to prevent any untoward incident of violence from occurring; Whereas, immediate extension of preventive measures is necessary under Section 163 of BNSS,2023 to check any untoward incident; Now, therefore, I, Dharun Kumar District Magistrate, Churachandpur District, in exercise of the power conferred under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023, hereby declare prohibitory order 06:00 PM of 16th October, 2024 and shall remain in force till 08:00 AM of 18th October 2024 or until further orders, prohibiting the unauthorised procession or unlawful assembly of five or more persons and carrying arms/ other instruments which can be used as weapons including sticks/ rods and stones. "
