Zomato CEO Deepinder Goyal finally opened up on how he met and fell in love with his current wife, Grecia Munoz. In the latest episode of ‘The Great Indian Kapil Sharma Show,’ the entrepreneur reminisced about his fairytale love story. The episode was graced by other bigwigs, such as Infosys co-founder Narayana Murthy and his wife, writer-philanthropist Sudha Murty.
Kapil began the chat by asking Deepinder about how he met his wife, Grecia Munoz, who hails from Mexico. Smiling nostalgically, Deepinder recounted, “I was single for the longest time. My friends would set me up on dates and always advised me not to settle down. When Grecia first came to Delhi, a friend called me and said, ‘There’s a girl here you should meet.’ I agreed, and he said, ‘Make sure to meet her; you’ll end up marrying her.’ It was his foresight. He had always told me not to get serious, but this time he said, ‘You have to marry if you find a girl like her.’ I was intrigued to meet her, and then..” he recalled.
The conversation turned lively when Kapil asked Grecia if she enjoyed Punjabi cuisine. Her face lit up as she answered, “I love Indian food because of its diversity.” Kapil’s co-host, Archana Puran Singh, joined in, asking for her favorite dish. Grecia replied with a smile, “Chole Bhature.”
Sudha Murthy, who had previously joked about Chole Bhature being less than healthy, chuckled and joined the fun. Kapil teased, saying, “Look, she came all the way from Mexico and ended up loving chole bhature.” Sudha laughed, adding, “And she still stays slim, despite all the chole bhature!” The playful exchange had everyone, audience and guests alike, laughing.
Curious about Grecia’s first time cooking in India, Kapil asked if she had ever prepared her “first rasoi” (the traditional first meal cooked by a new bride). Laughing, Deepinder jumped in, “Cooking is officially banned in our home. We just order in.” The humor wasn’t lost on the crowd, considering Deepinder’s role as the founder of one of India’s leading food delivery services.
