Sikandar box office collections: Big drop after Eid holiday, many shows cancelled. Even Rashmika's golden touch fails to work for Salman Khan

Salman Khan's much-anticipated Eid release, Sikandar, featuring Rashmika Mandanna, opened to a mixed response at the box office. Despite being backed by a big-budget production and high expectations, the film's performance has been underwhelming, failing to generate the kind of numbers typically associated with a Salman Khan release. Prior to Sikandar,, Rashmika Mandanna was on a roll, churning out one hit after another. Teaming up with Salman Khan for Sikandar, expectations were sky-high for yet another blockbuster.

Sikandar box office collections
The action-packed entertainer debuted with Rs 26 crore on its first day, capitalizing on the Eid holiday weekend. While this seemed like a strong start, the film failed to maintain momentum. On its second day, which coincided with Eid, the collections saw a modest rise, adding Rs 29 crore to the total. However, the positive trend did not last long, as Sikandar witnessed a sharp decline on its third day, earning only Rs 19.5 crore. After three days, the film's total domestic collection stood at Rs 74.5 crore across all languages.

One of the significant factors affecting Sikandar’s performance was its occupancy rate, which started off promising but saw a steep drop. Despite Salman Khan’s massive fan following, the film’s occupancy rates indicate that it has struggled to sustain audience interest beyond the Eid holiday.

Many shows cancelled
Apart from its declining box office trend, Sikandar has faced challenges with show cancellations in several cities. While Mumbai saw stable screenings, reports suggest that multiple shows in cities like Surat and Indore were either canceled or had very low audience turnout, according to a Bollywood Hungama report. The weak demand in these areas further contributed to the film’s underwhelming performance, as many theaters opted to replace it with other films due to poor response.

Moreover, Sikandar failed to surpass the opening numbers of Chhaava, a historical drama starring Vicky Kaushal, which debuted with Rs 31 crore domestically and Rs 54 crore worldwide. This comparison underscores the film’s struggle to establish itself as a box office powerhouse in 2025, given Salman Khan’s past record of delivering major hits during the Eid season.

Industry analysts believe that several factors contributed to Sikandar's underwhelming run. The film's mixed reviews, coupled with an early online leak, may have impacted footfall. Additionally, the chemistry between Salman Khan and Rashmika Mandanna did not resonate well with audiences, further dampening excitement for the film.

Despite a rocky start, Sikandar still has an opportunity to recover some of its losses in the coming days. The weekend collections will be crucial in determining whether the film can stabilize or continue its downward trend.
