Govardhan Puja Chhappan Bhog Food List: Govardhan Puja is celebrated the day after Diwali, also known as Annakut or Chhappan Bhog festival. On this day, 56 dishes, or "Chhappan Bhog," are offered to Lord Krishna. According to religious belief, when Lord Krishna lifted Govardhan mountain on his little finger to save them from the wrath of Lord Indra, the people of Braj were unable to eat for seven days. After seven days, when everything returned to normal, people prepared and offered 56 dishes to the Lord as a token of gratitude. This began the tradition of offering 56 dishes, which is still observed with devotion and love.

The dishes included in Chhappan Bhog are very diverse, ranging from sweets to savories, fruits to grains. The offerings typically include puris, kheer, halwa, laddus, dahi-vada, papad, chutney, sev, namkeen, rabri, makhan-mishri, fruits, and various vegetables. In some places, milk-based dishes such as mawa, peda, rasgulla, malpua, and doodhpuri are also included. All these dishes are prepared with pure ghee and sattvic ingredients. Furthermore, the inclusion of all kinds of grains, fruits, vegetables, and milk products in the Chhappan Bhog also aims to maintain balance and variety in life. On this day, people worship a symbol of Govardhan mountain in their homes or temples, and then the Chhappan Bhog Prasad is distributed among all.
