New Delhi: The International Education group at Cambridge University Press & Assessment (Cambridge) recently hosted its second annual South Asia Cambridge Schools Conference, bringing together 400 educators, school leaders, and experts from India, Sri Lanka, Bhutan, Bangladesh, Nepal, and the Maldives.
The conference sought to empower schools, teachers, and students to manage the fast-changing world of education, in the wake of global calls for 44 million new teachers by 2030. Rod Smith, Cambridge Group Managing Director of International Education, stressed the need for empowering educators by professional development programs and qualifications.
Smith said, "We at Cambridge are dedicated to preparing students for a world that is changing quickly." "We're integrating AI to improve learning, providing digital tests to advance assessment, and supporting teachers with professional development in order to do this. We are pleased to work with educational institutions to develop new programs as South Asia develops as a centre of excellence in education."
"We are steadfast in our resolve to make international education affordable while upholding the highest standards of quality," said Vinay Sharma, Senior Vice President, foreign Education, South Asia. We enable our schools to establish a solid basis for instruction, learning, and evaluation.
The conference featured panel discussions with eminent speakers, including Mark Winterbottom, Professor of Education, University of Cambridge, and Sanjay Jain, Head of Google for Education, India. Future career trajectories, digital high-stakes exams, and the employment of AI in the classroom were the main topics of discussion.
Some of the major areas of discussion were how to mold mindfulness in school, reframing college-readiness for changing career trajectories, and equity of access to high-quality education. The conference also awarded some schools for their excellence in academics with the Cambridge School Recognition Awards.
Initiatives of Cambridge for students in India are Climate Quest for molding climate resilience, Cambridge Connect, and Young Pioneers to encourage an entrepreneurial spirit.
