Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) has registered a case in connection with alleged fake distribution of seeds in district Dindori. In a separate case, the agency has booked office bearers of a village panchayat in Jabalpur district over anomalies in disbursement of wages under MGNREGA, officials said on Monday.
DG EOW, Upendra Jain said that in 2021-22 in district Dindori, the then deputy director agriculture Ashwin Jharia and block development officer of Mehedwani Hemant Maravi prepared a fake list of farmers and on papers distributed certified seed - red lentil pulse and gram.
The seeds were to be distributed to farmers under the TFRA scheme. The two officials allegedly gave the gram seed to 372 non-existing farmers and similarly red lentil pulse to 295 farmers.
The two officials had allegedly distributed the fake supplies with the help of the then section in-charge Indarlal Goriya, now retired. The police have registered a case against the three for incurring loss of Rs 3.39 lakh to the state coffers.
Anomaly in MGNREGA wage disbursement
In another case, the EOW has booked sarpanch Pannu Kol, deputy sarpanch Rajendra Yadav, panchayat secretary Devshree Yadav and a beneficiary Sushma Yadav of village Panchayat Badihya-kheda of Jabalpur. The panchayat secretary withdrew wages of a dead man by preparing a fake muster roll of MGNREGA.
The deputy sarpanch provided benefit of PM housing to the beneficiary Sushma Yadav and also provided benefit of Ladli Behna Yojna to one Vandana Yadav, who was not eligible to avail the benefit of the scheme.
