Mumbai: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted that moderate rainfall will be expected with high tides later today. Light rain has already affected multiple neighborhoods, with predictions suggesting that the rain will continue. This week, temperatures are predicted to range from 23°C to 32°C, accompanied by cloudy weather and considerable rainfall.
On May 29, the IMD warned of overcast skies and a chance of moderate rainfall. Temperatures have risen to 29°C, with humidity at 81% and winds gusting at 8 km/h. The probability of rain was 82% by 9 a.m. Significant temperatures are expected to vary between 25°C and 31°C. Tomorrow, cloudy conditions and light rain are forecasted.

Between May 27 and June 2, light to moderate rain and thunderstorms are expected in Konkan, Goa, and Madhya Maharashtra. In these areas, isolated heavy rainfall is expected until June 2, with a chance of very intense rainfall in the Konkan and ghat regions. Mumbai recently experienced its highest one-day rainfall in May since 2021, with Colaba breaking a 107-year-old record.
Heavy Rains In Other States
Heavy rain is set to continue in Kerala, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) maintaining its forecast for various districts on May 28. A red alert is in place for Kozhikode and Wayanad, warning of extreme rainfall, while nine districts are under an orange alert for very heavy rain, except Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, and Alappuzha, which have a yellow alert indicating isolated heavy showers.

On the same day, the southwest monsoon arrived in Odisha about 13 days early, covering several districts. IMD predicted rainfall in India, including Odisha, at 106% of the long-period average. Meanwhile, Mumbai is expected to experience moderate to heavy rain with possible thunderstorms and gusty winds, following significant flooding in parts of the city, leading to penalties for four contractors who failed to meet their pumping machinery obligations.
In a latest update IMD has stated that the Well Marked Low Pressure Area (WML) from yesterday developed into a depression at 0530 hours IST today, 29th May 2025, in the northwest Bay of Bengal. It is anticipated to strengthen and shift northward, traversing the coasts of West Bengal and Bangladesh by this afternoon.

According to the Air Quality Index (AQI) report from the Sameer App by the Central Pollution Control Bureau (CPCB), today's AQI measurements stand at 70, classified as 'Satisfactory' levels. A sharp decrease was noted in the AQI levels.
