Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Shahpura police on Saturday arrested a Ugandan woman who was illegally living in India for the past three years. The woman identified as Stella Nakawunde,28, was staying in Bhopal for the past few months even as her tourist visa has expired in the year 2022. The woman even forged admission documents and identity card of a private engineering college to pose as a student and took a flat on rent for ₹22 000 per month at Gulmohar Colony, said police. The woman is being questioned.
Shahpura police received an alert from the office of DCP Zone-1 regarding the Ugandan national residing at flat number 102 at Trilochan Nagar locality of Gulmohar Colony.
The documents submitted for rent agreement mentioned Stella as a student of LNCT College. Shahpura police also received the college documents, identity card along with her Ugandan passport and a copy of a visa valid till July 2027. However, during verification, the college authorities told the cops that no student with such name was enrolled in any course at the college.
Stella told police that she was living in Delhi but moved to several places before coming to Bhopal for supplying beauty products. Her call details were being scanned to identify persons with whom she was in contact in Bhopal. Stella tried to dodge police before she was arrested.
Aware that police were after her, Stella changed her mobile number and moved to a flat at Katara Hills. However, police identified her new mobile number through surveillance and traced her location.
