1988 batch IPS officer SBK Singh has been given additional charge of Delhi Police Commissioner. Singh is going to replace IPS Sanjay Arora. His tenure is ending today.

Senior IPS SBK Singh has been given the additional charge of Delhi Police Commissioner. SBK Singh of Delhi-UT cadre is a 1988 batch IPS officer. Currently he is the DG of Home Guard. He has only six months left for his retirement. The special thing is that despite having only 6 months left for retirement, he has been given such a big responsibility which shows his experience and track record.
Singh is replacing IPS Sanjay Arora. Arora's term is ending today (31 July, Thursday). Sanjay Arora is a 1988 batch Tamil Nadu cadre officer.
SBK Singh held many positions in Delhi Police
SBK Singh is a professional and experienced IPS officer. He has deep experience of both policing and administration. In his career, he has worked on many important posts in Delhi and NCR and has handled big cases. His role has been important in maintaining law and order in a challenging city like Delhi.
SBK Singh has been the DGP of Mizoram and Arunachal Pradesh. He has been Special CP and Special CP Law and Order, Special CP Intelligence, Joint CP Crime, Additional CP EOW in Delhi Police. SBK Singh was the youngest officer of the 1988 batch.
What did the Home Ministry say?The Home Ministry said in the order that with the approval of the competent authority, IPS (AGMUT 1988) SBK Singh is given additional charge of the post of Commissioner of Police, Delhi from 01.08.2025 till further orders. He is currently posted as Director General, Home Guards, Delhi.

Apart from SBK Singh, in the race for Delhi Police Commissioner are Gyanendra Pratap Singh (GP Singh) of 1991 batch, Shatrughan Kapoor of 1990 batch, Satish Golcha of 1992 batch and Praveer Ranjan of 1993 batch.
GP Singh is the DG of CRPF. He has also been the DGP of Assam. Kapoor is currently the DGP of Haryana. Satish Golcha is the DG of Tihar Jail. Praveer Ranjan is currently posted in CISF. Before this, he has handled many important responsibilities in Delhi Police. Now it will be interesting to see who the government makes the boss of Delhi Police.
