Nothing seems to be going right for Pakistan on the New Zealand tour. In the third match of the ODI series, Pakistan got a target of 265 runs in 42 overs to win, so they needed a good start from their openers, but how could they get a good start, opener Imam-ul-Haq got such an injury that he had to retire hurt and go to the pavilion.
Imam suffered a serious jaw injury due to the fielder's throw at the non-striker's end, due to which he was taken out of the field on a stretcher. As soon as Imam was hit by the throw, he was seen in a lot of pain and had to seek medical help on the field itself. Then, he was taken out of the field by an ambulance. The incident happened during the third over of Pakistan's run chase in the rain-interrupted match.
Imam played William O'Rourke's ball towards the off-side and ran to take a run. The throw came at the non-striker end and hit his jaw while penetrating his helmet. After this, he held his jaw and had to leave the field. Imam faced seven balls and scored one run before retiring hurt. Pakistan Cricket confirmed in a post on social media that Usman Khan has been selected as a concussion substitute in place of Imam.
Earlier in the last match, Haris Rauf was hit on the helmet by the ball and Naseem Shah replaced him as a concussion substitute. Naseem hit a blazing half-century in the unsuccessful run chase, which was his first half-century in ODIs. Talking about this match, Pakistan captain Mohammad Rizwan won the toss and decided to bowl. Thanks to Bracewell's half-century, New Zealand scored 264/8 in 42 overs. He scored 59 runs in 40 balls, which included one four and six sixes. Currently, Pakistan team is in the match and chasing the target thanks to Babar Azam's half-century.
