Coronation Street who's targeting Lauren 'revealed' after sinister text

There was a worrying turn of events on on Friday night as a van crash saw one teenager blackmailed.

Lauren Bolton had tried to stop Betsy Swain from taking revenge on Tracy Barlow, only for the pair to end up driving off in her florist business van. The girls ended up crashing and were worried about how to cover up their crime.

Things took a turn when the police showed up at the accident site, after Tracy reported the van as being stolen. With Lauren having a number of brushes with the law recently and fearing her baby son Frankie might be taken out of her care, Betsy took action.

She told Lauren to flee the scene and claimed to police she was driving, and not Lauren. She claimed it was payback for Tracy being linked to the shooting that left her injured recently.

Despite the police telling Betsy they knew she wasn't alone and likely wasn't driving, with her detective mum Lisa Swain also bringing up her arm injury, Betsy stayed silent to protect Lauren. She knew she would face trouble but didn't want to get the teen mum in bother after everything that has happened to her.

Lauren and Betsy later met up and discussed the incident, with Betsy making it clear she kept her new pal's name out of it. Lauren was grateful as Betsy detailed what would happen next, while she clearly wasn't worried about her punishment.

With that Betsy said goodbye to Lauren and left. But in that moment Lauren was distracted by her phone pinging as a message from someone came through on it.

As she picked up her phone she saw that a number she did not recognise had text her to say they knew what she had done. Someone knew that Lauren was driving the van and not Betsy.

They also knew that Betsy was keeping her name out of it, leading to them sending her the eerie message stating whoever it was knew Lauren had crashed the van, not Betsy. Lauren looked alarmed over the text not knowing who it was but realising she could be found out.

But no one seemed to be around when the girls got into or crashed the car, asides Tracy and Todd Grimshaw but neither of them saw anything as far as we are aware. So who is messaging Lauren and what do they want?

It may have been revealed in the scene involving Betsy, the officer and her mum Lisa. Lisa was determined to get to the bottom of who Betsy was covering for, knowing that a blonde girl was with her.

So is this Lisa trying to get Lauren to confess to her involvement to save her daughter? Or perhaps the police officer is doing the same thing having seen Lauren at the scene. Perhaps it's Betsy and she's getting back at Lauren for crashing the van, while pretending to be fine with taking the blame!
